How many times have you been at an event and noticed that there’s always a line for the women’s restroom, but never a line for the men’s restroom? Well, I experienced the total opposite this weekend! For the first time in my life, I saw a line of men waiting to use the restroom and no women waiting. I was at a triathlon this weekend that included about four hundred racers. And two things surprised me…of course the line of men at the restroom, and the fact that there were no porta potties. Even though there was a permanent restroom facility, I would have thought there would be extra restrooms available. At almost every other race I’ve been to or heard about, there are porta potties. Unfortunately, linked to the porta potties are the usual never-ending complaints of mega lines and lack of toilet paper. While I did go into the bathroom early on and there was no line, and toilet paper was available, I can’t say that’s how it stayed. And since there was no attendant keeping an eye on the state of the restroom, my guess, according to experience, is that it didn’t stay clean or filled with toilet paper for long. For these reasons alone, restroom trailers are perfect for triathlons, marathons, and races. But they are also important in helping eliminate those hateful gigantic lines that every racer complains about.
