Cache Creek Winery, located in the eastern foothills of Clearlake, CA, is one of those quaint getaways that prides itself on crafting some of the region’s best wine. Their business has continued to thrive despite damage from the summer wildfire of 2017, but they saw their fair share of challenges during this time. We were happy to step in and help them in the best way we could.
A SUSTAINABLE FAMILY OWNED VINEYARD
In 1997, Founder Bill Van Pelt stumbled upon some acres for sale of of Highway 20 East and decided to look into the property. He was immediately greeted by a herd of Tule Elk, and at that moment, inspiration struck.
Bill decided that he would use this land to create a business that was kind to the natural environment, ensuring that the Elk would always find a home there. He decided that the business idea that was best for the land and its wildlife would be a luscious vineyard. Bill’s family began planting the vineyard, and soon 74 acres of vines were thriving.
Cache Creek Vineyards specializes in a wide variety of wines: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Petite Sirah, and Syrah, with about half the acres planted to Cabernet Sauvignon. Keeping the wildlife in mind, the family has maintained sustainable farming practices as it continued to grow. The vines thrived alongside the wildlife.
ADA RESTROOM TRAILER AS A TEMPORARY SOLUTION
When the wildfires began to reach Cache Creek in 2017, they had no idea how much damage was upon them. The fire could take little, or it could take everything they’d built. Fortunately, the vineyard saw little damage - they lost a few rows of vines, but the family home still stands and most of the vines survived.
During their repairs, the family saw a need for a portable restroom trailer, and after sharing their needs, we recommended the ADA +6 Portable Restroom Trailer unit. This special ADA restroom trailer could provide relief for their employees while reviving of the land occurred.
This ADA restroom trailer features one ADA-compliant suite and six unisex suites. The unisex suite is outfitted with a pedal flush toilet, corner sink vanity, shatterproof mirror, and abundant interior lighting. The ADA restroom suite is similarly equipped with a flushing china toilet, sink and shatterproof mirror, with the additional ADA requirements added in, like grab rails and room for a 360 degree turn radius. Both suite styles include amenities like monitored sink temperatures and paper towel dispensers.
Restroom operators can ensure that employees have a comfortable experience in this portable restroom trailer with the use of air conditioning and heat strips that maintain the unit’s temperature no matter what the weather my be like outside. It is also equipped with insulated walls and ceiling to further aid in a comfortable interior atmosphere.
This unit was a perfect choice for Cache Creek Vineyards. It provided their employees with an experience that they earned during hours of hard work - an upscale atmosphere fitted with all the amenities needed for comfort. This ADA restroom trailer was a perfect temporary restroom solution!
Although the vineyards were not very affected by wildfires this year, much of the region has seen record-breaking damage from fires in 2018. Relief is needed, and any donations made could significantly benefit the community, the firefighters, and those whose homes and businesses are in danger or lost.
If you would like to donate to those who need wildfire relief, Cache Creek has recommended the Rotary Club of Clear Lake. The Rotary Club’s efforts have continued to help the affected communities for over 2 years, raising nearly $1 million that has all gone into helping those in need.
