Restroom Trailer Tips & Education

Purchase Portable Restrooms to Start Your Sanitation Business

Here at Portable Restroom Trailers, we have worked with a variety of industries. We have seen beautifully designed outdoor events, practical construction sites, refuges for disaster victims, and so many others in between. As we got to know the industry, we realized a surprising fact - an industry that purchases portable restrooms regularly is the sanitation business. You read that right! We have worked with a wide variety of companies in our very own industry by providing portable restrooms as they grow their business. Some may think, “why help those who could someday be your competition?” The simple answer: it’s just smart business.  Before our CEO, Teri Pahon, decided to open up a new sanitation company, she noticed an interesting lack in our industry when it comes to manufacturing. Why wasn’t anyone making units with amenities? Before Portable Restroom Trailers, you’d find very basic temporary bathroom options. Just the necessities. But what about climate control? Designer interiors? Paper towel and blow dryer options?  These thoughts are what inspired Teri to start her company with portable restrooms that have all of the amenities of home bathrooms. In our industry, there are few like us, and those looking to break into it are interested in completed products. We personally work with manufacturers, so why not provide them to those looking to rent or purchase to turn a profit? We began working with individuals and companies alike and found this a win-win scenario. We produce a unique product, and they want to rent or sell it to their customers. We are proud to be a company that can help others achieve their goals. If you are interested in building a business in the sanitation industry, here are three ways we can help!  Start with Restroom Rentals If you are just getting started in the industry, perhaps you don’t have the funds to purchase your own trailer or don’t quite have the credit to finance it. This is no problem at all. We have a wide variety of portable restrooms for rent to choose from. Almost all of our available units for sale are also available for rent. Our rentals are affordable and fit a variety of needs, like luxury events and construction sites. Communicate with your clients and see what their needs are, then reach out to us we will find the restroom rental that fits your needs. Define Your Audience As you get started in the sanitation business, a crucial question you need to ask yourself is, “Who actually needs portable restrooms?” To be honest, the answers may be less obvious than you think.  Check out these three very different companies that found a need for portable restroom trailers: Cresco Reed Construction Salvation Army Rivers Bend RV Resort Purchase a Portable Restrooms Fleet For those ready to commit to the sanitation business, we have a wide variety of fleets available for sale. Winterproof Upgrades for Portable Restroom Trailers

As the chillier months set in, a need for insulation and heaters becomes more prominent. As leading providers of portable restroom units, we understand that climate control is a priority for an ideal bathroom experience, and we keep the changing of seasons in mind as we craft our special upgrade packages. We often work with businesses who are interested in purchasing our portable restroom trailers, and although a sale may be complete, we believe in long-term partnerships with companies we sell to. We provide a wide variety of add-ons and upgrades for trailers that make them ideal for use year-round.  As the year continues, we know that fleet owners are beginning to think about running their portable restroom trailers business during the colder season. Below, you’ll find an outline of our heating packages and upgrades that will guarantee your restroom users stay comfortable and warm despite the outside weather. Three-Season Heat Package The Three Season Heat Package is ideal for businesses that have units being used in milder winter climates. With the ability to withstand temperatures as low as 30 degrees, it can handle a little frost. This package equips portable restroom owners with a waste tank de-icing system This ensures that contents do not freeze up despite the potential of slightly below-freezing temperatures. The de-icing system can make fleet owners feel confident that this critical tank is not affected by extreme temperatures and can continue operating in excellent condition. Portable restroom operators can also remain confident in the unit’s ability to provide a warm climate for guests with the addition of the 750-watt heater. This powerful heater is added to each suite and maintains a comfortable temperature for users. To aid the heater in keeping the climate comfortable, this package also includes an upgrade to the entire unit. Insulated walls and ceiling are added, keeping the warm air in and the cold air out.  Finally, this package includes the 2-30 amp marine-style power cord upgrade. Together, these upgrades work together to guarantee that your portable restroom unit is comfortable for guests in temperatures as low as 30 degrees. Your unit will be ready for winter in no time! Four-Season Heat Package For those living in more extreme climates, a few more upgrades are necessary to withstand some seriously cold weather. There are some locations where a 30-degree minimum limit simply won’t do - and some living in these climates wouldn’t even consider 30 degrees true winter weather! For those who agree, we have packaged together an upgrade built to withstand as low as -20 degrees - our California clients can’t imagine it! Here are the upgrades you’ll need to maintain your portable restrooms. First, this upgrade includes almost everything that comes with the three-season package, including the de-icing system, insulated walls and ceiling, and 2-30 amp marine-style power chord. In addition to these features, the four-season package provides an upgrade from the 750-watt heater. A 40k BTU ducted furnace is installed and provides heat to the restrooms, allowing the interior temperature to reach a comfortable temperature. The unit also has two 30lb LP tanks mounted at the front. To further insulate the unit, we add underfloor spray insulation. This means that your unit will be completely insulated from top to bottom, keeping that wanted heat in and cold out. An insulated LP cover is also included to protect the two tanks at the front. As added protection from the outside cold, we create a foil-wrapped exterior before adding the metal finish, which provides your portable restroom with the most protection from cold weather possible. Winter-Proof Portable Restroom Solutions  Overall, each package is customized to ensure that your portable restroom business continues to operate in extreme winter weather. You won’t have to worry about a customer’s lack of comfort - these winter upgrades are designed to keep the heat in and the cold out in every way possible.  When you’re approached by an event planner, employer, construction company, or any other customer in need of restroom trailers, you’ll be able to promise satisfaction with your upgraded portable fleet! Our team here at Portable Restroom Trailers wants every business, big and small, to succeed, and we prioritize providing resources that can help. As a nation founded on principles of individual success and making something great out of nothing, the government supplies a number of tools to help small businesses find their ground and grow. This is a savings for all business owners that not many are aware of. This ensures that business funds spent on much-needed products can end up back in your pocket! Capitalize on great deals with our in-stock portable restroom trailers to save on the total cost, and ensure delivery by December 31, 2022 to qualify for the section 179 deduction. What is the Section 179 Deduction? This is the section 179 deduction. You can elect the section 179 deduction instead of recovering the cost by taking depreciation deductions.” Using the Section 179 tax code, you can deduct the full purchase price of any equipment which qualifies and is purchased or financed during the tax year in question. If you buy or lease equipment (like portable restroom trailers), it is possible to deduct the full purchase price from your gross income. By adding up your total equipment, software, and vehicles purchased for your business in 2022, you can write off or expense up to 100% of the cost of a portable restroom for purchase for up to $500,000, and then 50% of the remaining balance up to $2,000,000! Leveraging this deduction allows businesses to jump on what they need now instead of waiting over the next few years by only writing off the depreciation values. With significant industry price increases, this is just another reason to purchase now instead of waiting. To learn more on the IRS website, click here. As one of the leading providers of restroom rental solutions, we recognize that climate control plays a significant role in creating the ultimate restroom experience. Hence, we factor in seasonal changes when creating our wide range of add-ons and unique upgrade packages that are well-suited to different trailers. Over the years, we have worked with businesses interested in upgrading their restrooms during the cold seasons by providing them with befitting restroom solutions. Nonetheless, we look beyond the present, as we believe in building long-term partnerships with every company we service. As a fleet owner looking to run your restroom rentals business during the colder seasons, you need all the help you can get to handle what is coming. Below are some of our heating packages and upgrades that will guarantee the comfort of your restroom users during winter. THREE-SEASON HEAT PACKAGE The Three Season Heat Package is a perfect fit for businesses that plan to use their units during mild winters. This package is designed to withstand temperatures as low as -30 degrees. Therefore, it can handle little frost. It equips restroom rental fleet owners with a waste tank de-icing system that ensures contents do not freeze up even when there is potential exposure to temperatures below the freezing point. This assures you that your critical tank will remain in tip-top condition and continue to run without being affected by extreme temperatures. Additionally, restroom rental operators can be sure of their unit’s ability to provide a warm atmosphere for guests visiting the restroom, thanks to the presence of the 750-watt heater. This powerful heater is included in each suite to maintain a comfortable temperature for restroom users. The Three Season Heat Package also includes an upgrade to your entire unit. Upgrades like installing insulated walls and ceilings will help keep the cold air out while trapping the warm air. These changes will increase the heater's efficiency in keeping the climate favorable. Finally, the 2 - 30 amp marine-style power cord upgrade in this package works together with other add-ons and upgrades to ensure that your restroom rental works perfectly even at temperatures as low as - 30 degrees. With this upgrade, you can get your unit ready for winter in no time! FOUR-SEASON HEAT PACKAGE During extreme climates, more upgrades are needed to withstand harsh weather conditions. In this case, upgrades that are effective at a -30 degree minimum limit might be of little help, as it is beyond their capacity. Hence, the need for an ideal solution. This is why we have put together a package built to withstand temperatures as low as -20 degrees. Introducing the Four Season Heat Package for restroom rental fleet owners. This package includes most features in the Three Season Heat Package, such as the de-icing system, insulated walls, ceilings, and 2 - 30 amp marine-style power chord. However, it comes with a few game-changing features designed to handle the extreme cold season. Four Season Heat Package offers an improvement on the 750-watt heater, thanks to the installation of the 40k BTU ducted furnace. The furnace provides much-needed heat to the restrooms, making the internal temperature more comfortable for users. Furthermore, this package has two 30 lb LP tanks mounted at the front, secured by an insulated LP cover. In order to increase the efficiency of this system,  your restroom will be protected from the outside cold by creating a foil-wrapped exterior before adding the metal finish. We also included underfloor spray insulation. This addition working in tandem with the other features ensures that your unit is completely insulated from top to bottom, locking in the heat and kicking out the cold. WINTER-READY RESTROOM RENTAL OPTIONS These packages are customized to ensure that your restroom rental business remains in operation regardless of the extreme winter weather conditions. Therefore, you won’t have to lose sleep over how to make your customers comfortable when winter arrives. With these winter upgrades, you can effectively keep the heat in and the cold out in your restrooms and stay in business. Now, you can guarantee user comfort and satisfaction whenever you get restroom rental orders from construction companies, event planners, employers, or others during the cold season.

Portable Restroom Trailer Operations with the Smarter Restrooms App

As the world continues to advance in technological developments, our company is proud to say that we’re advancing the portable restroom trailer industry right alongside others. In 2017, we launched the Smarter Restrooms App, and this tool has helped our many partners to more effectively run their restroom rentals business. The app, which can be downloaded and used on any smartphone, tablet, or laptop, makes the overall management of restroom fleets convenient and more time effective. As we continue to partner with new businesses, we want to highlight the value of purchasing a portable restroom trailer with the Smarter Restrooms App feature. Read ahead to discover three key upgrades that the app provides. Receive Timely Notifications Each portable restroom trailer comes with water-saving flushable toilets, running water from sinks, and sometimes, showers and other amenities. This means that freshwater tank and waste tank levels require careful monitoring. No need to do this math on your own any longer! The Smarter Restroom App sends the fleet managers alert notifications when waste and freshwater tank levels are 2⁄3 full or empty, causing the unit to be out of service shortly. This is sure to boost productivity, allowing your team to have easy access to the information they need to keep restroom rentals operating smoothly. All-In-One Control System Nothing is more important than the experience of your guests. We want to ensure that every user has a comfortable experience in a climate-controlled portable restroom trailer with all the amenities of a brick-and-mortar restroom. This is an easy achievement with the app’s system operations control feature. The app detects and controls shore power, interior climate temperatures, and up-to-date weather conditions, giving units winter protection from freezing temperatures and keeping things cool when hot. This ensures that portable restroom trailers fleet managers stay updated from a remote location - they’ll know what changes are needed to the unit and when, which allows for a consistently pleasant restroom experience for guests. The app also allows for geometric locating, allowing managers to see the exact locations of all portable restroom trailers at all times. Offsite Unit Management The most tasking part of operating a portable restroom trailer is basic management. Making the trip back and forth to one or many units takes up valuable time, which can lower efficient customer service. The app addresses this issue as well. Managers have the ability to remotely control lights, air conditioning, heating, water heaters, and trailer power. This means managers can operate more restroom trailers off-site, expand their operations, and provide superior service. Overall, the Smarter Restrooms App was developed to allow businesses that use or own a portable restroom trailer to manage them more effectively. The app allows the management team to get more done in less time, makes fleet operations easier in general, and saves valuable employee time. Now, with the app, you can ensure that restroom visitors have a top-notch experience with less manual labor. We’ve made it easy so that your business can provide the best service possible easily, allowing you to grow and prosper. Winterize Your Portable Restroom Trailers

Here at Portable Restroom Trailers, we take pride in supplying premium products that cater to the specific needs of our customers. We put in the work to ensure that our products maintain their high standards and stand the test of time. However, sometimes there's little to nothing we can do during production to prepare for certain situations regardless of the precautions we put in place. One such situation is preparing our restroom trailers for the forthcoming winter storms. Over time, we will likely find a lasting solution. If you have experienced the harsh weather conditions that come with winter, you will agree that maintaining your portable restroom trailer is an uphill struggle. Winter-related occurrences begin to rear their ugly heads, such as water freezing, ice-clogged hoses, and a few others. Now, the million-dollar question is: How can you prevent these occurrences and ensure that you and your guests remain comfortable in your restroom trailer during winter? This is what runs through our minds when we think of ways to improve our products and help you enjoy the ultimate experience possible after purchasing our restroom trailers. In the meantime, since winter is around the corner, it is on us to ensure we fully equip you with the information you need to winterize your investment and weather the storm. Below are a few tested and trusted tips you can apply to keep your trailers functioning and maintain their high quality for a long time — during and beyond many winter seasons. Shield Your Water Supply Roll up heat tape around a ¾ inch garden hose. Hold it in place using a piece of duct tape. Place foam tube insulation around the heat tape and hose, leaving the power lights and plugs exposed. Run duct tape down, leaving the connecting ends, plugs, and power lights exposed. You'll be unable to connect the water or power if you cover them. Also, leave the power lights and test lights exposed (for testing and ensuring the hose continues working). Maintain Interior Temperatures Set two 1500-watt electric heaters below the unit. Ensure that you have adequate power before the placement. Construct a 2×2 or 2×4 wood frame that fits under each side of the unit. The aim is to box the bottom of the outside of the unit. Fill the small gaps (if there are any) with insulation. Cut ½ inch plywood that fits the frame of each side. Ensure you consider the stairs when cutting your wood. Also, the stairs should be out and in place before measuring for accuracy. Measure and cut out 6 × 6 inches to cover the drain access. Attach this with hinges so you can access the drain when required. This will prevent the valve from freezing. Get rid of gaps and holes below the tongue side of the unit with R-13 (or greater) insulation. Staple insulation inside the wood box. Cut the R-13 insulation in half and lay it on the ground where the box will be positioned. This removes any gap between the wood and the ground, protecting your portable restroom trailers from the cold. Fill the small gaps at the bottom and top with insulation. Staple bubble wrap around the outside of the wood unit. This closes off any gaps between the boards and on the corners, keeping the cold air out and heat in. Use electrical tape to mask exposed plug connections. Won't Be Using Your Portable Restroom Trailers When Winter Comes? If you won't use your unit this winter, that is fine. Nonetheless, you still need to keep it in top shape. To achieve this, you must prevent the use of water or power until you are ready to use the unit again by taking these three simple steps: Drain water from all the lines Add non-toxic RV “Pink Water System” antifreeze to the unit Unplug your unit Apply these easy but effective tips, and you can be sure that your portable restroom trailers will remain in tip-top condition for many winters to come. Reach out to us if you have any questions about maintaining the high quality of your trailers. We'll be glad to provide you with solutions.
