Spring has sprung! Despite the fact that many of us aren’t experiencing that spring weather quite yet, one can’t help but get excited for the season to come. Warm weather plans are being made, spring cleaning has commenced, and those large coats and boots are *almost* away for good. We know that warm weather is around the corner and we can’t wait to begin some of the travel, outings, and fun that comes with it.

As soon as it’s warm enough, many members of our team love visiting a local winery. This is such a unique experience. A short getaway that feels like a true out-of-town trip, a winery can give you that vacation atmosphere without the long trip or the hefty price tag. It’s a great way to support a local, family-owned business, and all while basking in the sunshine on a scenic vineyard. What does one have to lose?

While we love to visit in our free time, we also form many business partnerships with vineyards. Our portable restroom rentals are ideal bathroom solutions for guests who are enjoying their day outside, providing them with an option that doesn’t force a trip back to the vineyard’s brick-and-mortar location. We formed one of these partnerships with Crow Vineyard and Winery in Kennedyville, Maryland. When they had a need for portable restroom rentals, they knew to give us a call.

Crow Winery and Vineyard has been working hard to build a brand that represents the wine country on the Maryland coast. Read some of their story:

We are a 3rd generation working farm which has diversified to become a successful farm winery. Our 365 acre farm includes a herd of grass-fed angus beef, soy and corn, farm animals and a farmstay B&B. The expanding vineyard supports a state of the art winery producing award-winning wines that are enjoyed at our wine tasting room open year round.

It is our mission to produce quality grapes, wines and visitor experiences at our diversified working farm. The measurements to achieve this quality embrace on-going hospitality extended to all of our visitors, education with wine seminars, team expertise and a commitment to authenticity in the wines we make.

The operations at Crow are actively guided by owners Judy and Roy Crow and by Brandon Hoy who as well manages the estate vineyard.

The Crows with Brandon’s management are invested in assembling a strong team of employees and consulting experts for their branding, wine making and events creation.”

As we learned more about this family farm and their story, we knew they needed to provide their guests with an upscale restroom option that was easily accessible during their winetasting experience. We began compiling a list of portable restroom rentals that fit their needs.

Considering their volume of use and need for a dependable and affordable restroom solution, the winery browsed our list of portable restroom rentals and settled on the 2 Station Cabo Comfort Series. This rental, measuring 12 feet with a 125 gallon fresh water tank and 370 gallon waste tank, is compact but mighty. It can service up to 125 visitors before requiring maintenance, which allows the company’s employees to use the restroom comfortably and whenever they need it.

To ensure safe entry, the porch to each of the portable restroom rentals entry doors is equipped with ample lighting for easy access no matter what time, day or night. The entry ways have two sturdy aluminum steps and railing for additional safety.

In each of our 2 Station Cabo Comfort Series portable restroom rentals, guests will find two private bathrooms: one for women and one for men. All restrooms are designed with style in mind, showcasing earth tone interiors with modern flooring and color coordinated surfaces. They also include water saving flushable toilets, a sink vanity with a shatterproof mirror, hand dryer, and paper towels.

The men’s suite of our portable restroom rentals is versatile with a toilet and urinal option. To ensure the entire unit maintains a comfortable climate, air conditioning and heat strips are installed and able to adjust the temperature so that outdoor weather does not affect the interior’s experience. As an added measure, insulated walls and ceiling surround the entire unit, further aiding in keeping the interior temperature just right.

Overall, this is a versatile unit that worked perfectly for Crow Vineyard and Winery’s needs. They have provided their guests with an upscale restroom option that is easily accessible during their wine tasting experience.

As we continue to partner with new businesses, we want to highlight the value of purchasing portable restroom trailers with the Smarter Restrooms App feature. Read ahead to discover three key upgrades that the app provides.

  1. Receive Timely Notifications

Each of our portable restroom rentals comes with water saving flushable toilets, running water from sinks, and sometimes, showers and other amenities. This means that fresh water tank and waste tank levels require careful monitoring.

No need to do this math on your own any longer! The Smarter Restroom App sends the fleet managers alert notifications when waste and freshwater tank levels are 2⁄3 full or empty, causing the unit will be out of service shortly. This is sure to boost productivity, allowing your team to have easy access to the information they need to keep restroom trailer rentals operating smoothly.

  1. All-In-One Control System

Nothing is more important than the experience of your guests. We want to ensure that every user has a comfortable experience in a climate-controlled unit with all the amenities of a brick-and-mortar restroom. This is an easy achievement with the app’s system operations control feature.

The app detects and controls shore power, interior climate temperatures, and up-to-date weather conditions, giving units winter protection from freezing temperatures and keeping things cool when hot. This ensures that restroom fleet managers stay updated from a remote location - they’ll know what changes are needed to the unit and when, which allows for a consistently pleasant restroom experience for guests.

The app also allows for geometric locating, allowing managers to see the exact locations of all portable restroom trailers at all times.

  1. Offsite Unit Management

The most tasking part of operating one of our portable restroom rentals is basic management. Making the trip back and forth to one or many units takes up valuable time, which can lower efficient customer service. The app addresses this issue as well.

Managers have capabilities to remotely control lights, air conditioning, heating, water heaters, and trailer power. This means managers can operate more restroom trailers off-site, expand their operations, and provide superior service.

Overall, the Smarter Restrooms App was developed to allow businesses who use or own portable restroom trailers to manage them more effectively. The app allows the management team to get more done in less time, makes fleet operations easier in general, and saves valuable employee time. Now, with the app, those who use our portable restroom rentals can ensure that restroom visitors have a top-notch experience with less manual labor.

Despite the fact that spring is here, many of us are still experiencing extreme weather conditions, we know how hard it can get to maintain your long term portable restroom rentals. Maintenance issues are bound to arise: what if your water freezes? What if the hose gets clogged by ice? How do I keep my restroom guests comfortable during use?

These are all thoughts we’ve had when thinking about how to continue to improve our product. We want you to have the highest quality experience possible after your purchase. When it comes to cold weather, note these tips to ensure your portable restroom rentals stay functioning and keeps that high quality for long periods of time.

Protect Your Water Supply

  1. Wrap heat tape around a ¾” garden hose. Use duct tape to hold it in place, about every 12 inches.
  2. Put foam tube insulation around the hose and heat tape. Leave the plugs and power lights uncovered.
  3. Run duct tape down the insulation, leaving the connecting ends, plugs and power lights uncovered. If you cover them, you will not be able to connect the water or power. Leave test lights and power lights uncovered (for testing and to be sure the hose remains working).

Create A Box

  1. Place two 1500-watt electric heaters under the unit. Be sure you have sufficient power!
  2. Build a 2×2 or 2×4 wood frame to fit underneath each side of the unit. This is going to box the bottom of the outside of the unit.
  3. Fill any gaps with insulation
  4. Cut ½” plywood to fit frame for each side. Be sure to consider stairs when cutting your wood. Stairs should be out and in place before measuring.
  5. Measure and cut out a 6”x6” square to cover the drain access. Attach this with hinges so you can access the drain when needed. This will protect drain valve from freezing.
  6. Eliminate gaps and holes on the tongue side of the unit with R-13 (or greater) insulation.
  7. Staple insulation inside the wood box
  8. Cut a piece of insulation in half and lay it on the ground where the box will be placed. This eliminates gaps between the wood and the ground.

After Plywood is Attached

  1. Fill any small gaps on the top and bottom of the box with insulation
  2. Staple bubble wrap around the outside of the wood unit. This closes of gaps and keeps cold air out and heat in.
  3. Use electrical tape to cover plug connections that will remain outside.

For Units Not Used in Winter

Eliminate the use of power and water until the unit is ready to be used again.

  1. Drain water from all the lines.
  2. Add non-toxic RV “Pink Water System” antifreeze
  3. Unplug
