It’s the most festive time of the year! As we stroll through the streets of every town and city we provide restroom rentals for this season, we can’t help but admire all of the holiday cheer we see. We love that our work allows us to travel all over the country during this time of year. Every city and town we visit has something different to offer for out-of-towners. In a bustling city like New York, a traveler never feels alone amongst the busy holiday shoppers and working professionals. The walk through Central Park is as magical as a fairy tale, and the tree at Rockefeller Center towers over a number of shops and eateries to choose from. Smaller towns like Kansas City offer a different ambiance, with quaint storefronts decorated to the nines and a perfect layer of snow topping every building. The romance of the holiday season in these many different places adds to our joy of the job, making the season that much more special.
One winter staple that attracts even the scrooges of the season is the ice skating rink. Fun for children and adults alike, there is nothing quite like gliding around an ice rink on a chilly day. Add in some hot cocoa, friends and family, holiday tunes, and Santa, and you’ve got yourself a wonderful day!
In Charleston, NC, we had the pleasure of working with an ice skating rink owner. As he began construction for the season, he decided that the city needed two rinks. He got his crew together and began to build.
As construction for the ice skating rinks was coming to an end, the owners began adding amenities that guests would need to enjoy their outing. As they went down the list, they realized a restroom option was necessary. Given the ambiance of the ice rink, port-a-potties were not ideal. Because the rink was temporary, a brick and mortar restroom option would not be cost effective.
A BATHROOM SOLUTION WITH RESTROOM RENTALS
That’s when the rink owners came to us. They knew we had the best options out there when it comes to restroom rentals, and we were happy to suggest some options. Given the amount of guests the rink would see each day and the timeline of the rinks open season, we had many options that could be the perfect fit.

This trailer, one of our 24-foot restroom rentals, is equipped for high-volume use with an 865-gallon waste tank and 200-gallon fresh water tank. The entryway to each suite has ample lighting above the door for added safety and easy entry during anytime, day or night.
As visitors enter the restroom rental, they find an interior design scheme with nautical influences. The men’s suite includes 2 privacy stalls and 3 urinals, while the women’s suite includes 5 privacy stalls.
Each stall of the women’s suite has a flushable china toilet that flushes with the step of a pedal. The suite is equipped with a double sink vanity, shatterproof mirror, and a paper towel dispenser for a full and upscale restroom experience. The men’s suite also has flushable toilets in each privacy stall, and urinals are given some added privacy with walls separating each one. Two sink vanities and shatterproof mirrors finish out the men’s suite, with a paper towel dispenser for hand drying.
The entire unit also features air conditioning and heat strips in order to maintain a comfortable interior temperature no matter what outside weather may be like. These strips can easily increase or decrease the temperature of the unit when necessary, ensuring that guests have a comfortable experience.
The final feature of this portable restroom for rent is the Smarter Restrooms App. In February of 2017, we launched the Smarter Restrooms App, and this tool has helped our many partners to more effectively run their restroom rentals business. The app, which can be downloaded and used on any smartphone, tablet, or laptop, makes the overall management of restroom fleets convenient and more time effective.
