This company does some enormous construction projects. They build whole manufacturing plants, lavish corporate headquarters, and even indoor skydiving facilities. Their projects involve huge crews working shifts around-the-clock. They want to provide comfortable and clean accommodations for their employees – but they were having trouble finding a restroom trailer that fit the demanding needs of their worksites.
Working with PRT to Find a Custom Solution
The most common floorplans for portable restrooms trailers divide space evenly between men and women. Many of them allot more space to the women’s suite, which is all stalls with no urinals. For our client, this design meant that a great deal of space was wasted because relatively few women used their portable restrooms. On big jobs, they needed to provide multiple trailers – and at least half of each trailer went completely unused.
They contacted PRT to discuss a custom layout that would accommodate the demographics of their actual work crews. They still wanted a women’s suite, but they wanted it to be much smaller. And they wanted the bulk of the trailer space to be dedicated to the men’s suite.
We worked closely with our client to identify a male dominant custom floorplan that dedicates about 1/3 of the trailer space to the women’s suite, which has 2 private stalls and a single sink basin. The remaining 2/3 of the trailer is allotted to the men’s suite which features six extra-spacious private stalls designed to accommodate big men in coveralls, 3 urinals, and 2 sink basins. It was the perfect fit for our client’s predominantly-male workforce.
