For any business with a storefront, office, warehouse, or physical location, renovations are an inevitable part of operations. As time passes, parts of the building get too old to operate, You may go through a brand refresh and need to update the office to fit that new branding, or it’s simply time to change interior design touches that are out of style. Whatever the need may be, it is important that you keep your workspace looking fresh and engaging, especially if you have clients or customers who visit, and a portable bathroom rental can help.

Our restroom rentals offer a way to show your employees and customers that despite the clutter and chaos that comes with renovations, you as the owner or manager still care about their comfort and well-being. It’s one of many steps that can shine a positive light on your company while your space might not.

Jewelry company Katy Loxton recently had construction onsite at one of their warehouses. Despite the construction, managers wanted to ensure that employees were well taken care of, each having the amenities they needed to have a comfortable day at work. They came to us for a portable bathroom rental option that would act as a long term restroom solution, and we were happy to assist.

Let’s face it: no matter what you do, how organized the construction team is, or how you arrange your business’ location, renovations make for a very difficult working environment. From loud noise to constant foot traffic, relocating around the space to potential power issues, being a little uncomfortable during while changes are implemented is expected.

Your staff patiently works and waits as these renovations are underway, knowing that the changes are for the better. It is your job as the business owner or manager to create a positive company culture by doing all that you can to make them as comfortable as possible. A portable bathroom rental can help. They provide a removed location that can offer some peace and quiet and the ambiance and design shows them that, even in the little, mundane ways, you care.

When the Katy Loxton warehouse realized that a restroom option would be necessary during their construction process, they reached out to us, and we were happy to assist.

A Portable Bathroom Rental Solution

We knew that warehouse managers wanted a comfortable and elegant restroom option for staff during construction. It needed to be able to handle a medium volume of use with ease, and would act as the primary restroom option during renovations. After viewing some potential options, the managers agreed that the 5 Station Calypso Series was the fit for them.

This 16 foot portable bathroom rental is equipped for moderate use with a 560 gallon waste take and 150 gallon fresh water tank. The exterior is cleanly designed and sturdy, built to take on the most uncomfortable of weather climates. Each suite has safe aluminum steps and a handrail for guided access. Visitors will also find ample lighting for safe access no matter what time, day or night.

As visitors enter the suites, they’ll find a womens suite with three stalls and a mens suite with one stall and one urinal. Each stall is protected by ¾ height privacy walls, and walls are also provided for additional privacy at urinals. The entire portable restroom rental is equipped with non-slip flooring, flushable toilets, and a sink vanity with a shatterproof mirror.

The entire portable bathroom rental also features air conditioning and heat strips in order to maintain a comfortable interior temperature no matter what outside weather may be like. These strips can easily increase or decrease the temperature of the unit when necessary, ensuring that guests have a comfortable experience.

As we continue to partner with new businesses, we want to highlight the value of renting or purchasing a restroom rental with the Smarter Restrooms App feature. Our goal is to make your job as a fleet manager easier, and this disruptive technology can do just that. Read ahead to discover three key upgrades that the app provides.

  1. Receive Timely Notifications

Each portable bathroom trailer unit comes with water saving flushable toilets, running water from sinks, and sometimes, showers and other amenities. This means that fresh water tank and waste tank levels require careful monitoring.

No need to do this math on your own any longer! The Smarter Restroom App sends the fleet managers alert notifications when waste and freshwater tank levels are 2⁄3 full or empty, causing the unit will be out of service shortly. This is sure to boost productivity, allowing your team to have easy access to the information they need to keep restroom rentals operating smoothly.

  1. All-In-One Control System

Nothing is more important than the experience of your guests. We want to ensure that every user has a comfortable experience in a climate-controlled unit with all the amenities of a brick-and-mortar restroom. This is an easy achievement with the app’s system operations control feature.

The app detects and controls shore power, interior climate temperatures, and up-to-date weather conditions, giving units winter protection from freezing temperatures and keeping things cool when hot. This ensures that restroom fleet managers stay updated from a remote location - they’ll know what changes are needed to the unit and when, which allows for a consistently pleasant restroom experience for guests.

The app also allows for geometric locating, allowing managers to see the exact locations of all portable bathroom trailers at all times.

  1. Offsite Unit Management

The most tasking part of operating a portable bathroom trailer fleet is basic management. Making the trip back and forth to one or many units takes up valuable time, which can lower efficient customer service. The app addresses this issue as well.

Managers have capabilities to remotely control lights, air conditioning, heating, water heaters, and trailer power. This means managers can operate more restroom trailers off-site, expand their operations, and provide superior service.

Overall, the Smarter Restrooms App was developed to allow businesses who use or own restroom rentals to manage them more effectively. The app allows the management team to get more done in less time, makes fleet operations easier in general, and saves valuable employee time. Now, with the app, portable bathroom trailer owners can ensure that restroom visitors have a top-notch experience with less manual labor.

Winterize Your Long-Term Rentals

For those who experience extreme weather conditions, we know how hard it can get to maintain your restroom trailer. Maintenance issues are bound to arise: what if your water freezes? What if the hose gets clogged by ice? How do you keep your restroom guests comfortable during use?

These are all thoughts we’ve had when thinking about how to continue to improve our product. We want you to have the highest quality experience possible after your purchase. When it comes to cold weather, note these tips to ensure your restroom trailers stay functioning and keep that high quality for long periods of time.

PROTECT YOUR WATER SUPPLY

  1. Wrap heat tape around a ¾” garden hose. Use duct tape to hold it in place, about every 12 inches.
  2. Put foam tube insulation around the hose and heat tape. Leave the plugs and power lights uncovered.
  3. Run duct tape down the insulation, leaving the connecting ends, plugs and power lights uncovered. If you cover them, you will not be able to connect the water or power. Leave test lights and power lights uncovered (for testing and to be sure the hose remains working).

CREATE A BOX

  1. Place two 1500-watt electric heaters under the unit. Be sure you have sufficient power!
  2. Build a 2×2 or 2×4 wood frame to fit underneath each side of the unit. This is going to box the bottom of the outside of the unit.
  3. Fill any gaps with insulation
  4. Cut ½” plywood to fit frame for each side. Be sure to consider stairs when cutting your wood. Stairs should be out and in place before measuring.
  5. Measure and cut out a 6”x6” square to cover the drain access. Attach this with hinges so you can access the drain when needed. This will protect drain valve from freezing.
  6. Eliminate gaps and holes on the tongue side of the unit with R-13 (or greater) insulation.
  7. Staple insulation inside the wood box
  8. Cut a piece of insulation in half and lay it on the ground where the box will be placed. This eliminates gaps between the wood and the ground.

AFTER PLYWOOD IS ATTACHED

  1. Fill any small gaps on the top and bottom of the box with insulation
  2. Staple bubble wrap around the outside of the wood unit. This closes of gaps and keeps cold air out and heat in.
  3. Use electrical tape to cover plug connections that will remain outside.

FOR UNITS NOT IN USE FOR THE WINTER

Eliminate the use of power and water until the unit is ready to be used again.

  1. Drain water from all the lines.
  2. Add non-toxic RV “Pink Water System” antifreeze
  3. Unplug

Follow these simple tips and your restroom trailers will maintain their quality for a long time coming!
