Portable Restrooms Provide ADA Compliance & Enhance Working Conditions on Location

Airports are a busy place, and this statement couldn’t be truer for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia.  Owned and operated by the City of Atlanta through the Department of Aviation, it’s the busiest airport in the world. In fact, it accommodated more than 94 million passengers in 2013!

Part of serving such a large number of passengers means maintaining an exceptional workforce. To do such, Hartsfield-Jackson aims to provide a work atmosphere that is “safe, healthy, secure and also conscious of family and community goals”. The airport recently made an improvement in safety and health by purchasing two restroom trailers from Portable Restroom Trailers, LLC. These portable restrooms will provide clean, convenient facilities for employees working the ramp.

The first unit purchased by Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was a used, 2012 8 station restroom trailer. Catering to the male-dominant nature of their workforce, the unit is weighted heavily with men’s portable restrooms. It includes 6 stations for men - with a combination of urinals and China flushable toilets - and 2 stations for women.  Featuring an industrial package for heavy-duty use, this trailer will stand up to the elements while maintaining an attractive interior design. It will also allow for an easy hose down, an important feature for sustaining the facilities long term and keeping them clean for employee use. The restroom trailer is fully climate-controlled, including two extra large air conditioning units and an Arctic Package with full interior heat and insulation. This will allow year-round use and provide employees working outside a place to cool down in the summer and warm up in the winter.

The airport also purchased a 2012 Executive Series ADA single skid/park model restroom trailer. Providing complete support for all team members, the fully ADA compliant restroom features ramps, handrails, and other handicap accessible features that meet national regulations. The park model design allows the trailer to lower fully to the ground, making it easier to get in and out of.

We are so excited for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and their employees. We hope they will welcome the new portable restrooms as a positive improvement in the secured area and for ramp agents.
