Hurricane Isaac 2012

It’s a Presidential election year and thus the season for National Conventions. It’s also the season for hurricanes. The Republican National Convention that was to begin in Tampa on August 27th had to be pushed back a day due to concerns surrounding Hurricane Isaac. Fortunately for Florida it turned out that Isaac wasn’t too much of a threat. New Orleans and surrounding areas, on the other hand, weren’t quite as fortunate. Isaac made land fall near New Orleans on the 7th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, which stirred up many emotions for the citizens of the city. This time around, the levees seemed to withstand the storm surge, but there was still major flooding, debris, and power outages, which did lead to some emergency rescues. The Red Cross and many other disaster relief organizations are doing what they can to help support our Gulf Coast friends…what can we all do to help our fellow citizens during this hardship besides providing portable restroom trailers?

Shower Trailers Are Good, Too!

Portable estroom trailers are great for every type of event, but let’s not forget about shower trailers. What are they good for? Shower trailers are typically used for events where people get dirty or for long term use, when your usual shower is unavailable or if you're having guests. If you are renovating your home, a shower and restroom combo trailer might be a good solution for you. They are also great for disaster relief, providing a private, safe place to clean up. The shower/bathroom combo trailers provide both amenities in one unit and are climate controlled for any season, even inclement winter weather. The shower units are also great for events such as the Tough Mudder, Warrior Dash, or Ragbrai which require their participants get sweaty, wet, sandy, and muddy. Many beach communities are also providing shower trailers for their guests to use so that they can shower off before going home. Some camp sites also provide shower trailers for their guests to use while vacationing.Shower trailers are an excellent amenity, though it seems a forgotten one. If you plan on having an event or home renovation, don’t forget to think about either a portable restroom trailer or a shower combo unit.

Dropped Into the Porta Potty...

We’ve all done it at one time or another…dropped something in the portable potty! The question is, who has actually fished it out? Thankfully, I have not dropped anything in there that has been of value so I’ve left it. I don’t think I could bring myself to dig it out, so I have made a rule for myself: what drops in the porta potty, stays in the porta potty…no matter what! I have heard horror stories of keys, cell phones, watches, wallets and other things falling into the portable toilet. Unfortunately for some of the “victims”, they had to find a way to get their belongings out. I have heard of sticks, hangers, bubble gum, even bare hands being used to try to dig out the item. It might not be so bad if there wasn’t a huge drop, such a large basin, or rotting waste piled high. Somehow, dropping something in a regular toilet doesn’t seem quite as traumatic. If there’s no other  option, such as an indoor restroom or a portable restroom trailer where you can place your valuable items safely on a shelf or hang your bag on a hook, next time you go into a porta potty make sure to keep them out of range of the big bad basin. You’ll be a lot happier!

Worry-free Winter Portable Restroom Trailers

Have you started thinking about winterizing your RV or camper trailer yet?Although Labor Day is a week away and there might be one more chance to get in a camping trip, most families start packing up their campers and RVs after the long weekend, and once school starts. In order to successfully keep your RV or trailer safe during the winter months, you will need to winterize it. There is a suggested list of things to do, but the most important thing to do is flush all the water out of the pipes. The last thing you want is a frozen pipe to burst- talk about a mess! Once the pipes are clear of water, flush antifreeze (specifically for RV) through the pipes until it runs out of the faucets. Then make sure all of the faucets are completely off. If you want a little added protection, pour some antifreeze in all of the drains…it’s better to be safe than sorry. There are other tips to preventing damage to your RV such as making sure any openings or vents are completely closed off to little animal friends looking for a warm shelter, which The Complete Idiot’s Guide provides. You can also go to your local RV/Camper dealer to get some good suggestions on how to winterize, as well.Luckily, portable restroom trailers come with a special winter package. If you’re thinking of having a winter event, a portable restroom trailer is the best way to go because it is safe, private, and most importantly, heated. Your guests won’t have to freeze their behinds off (no pun intended!) when nature calls, which will make them very happy.
